Keyboard Shortcuts

You can use keyboard shortcuts to control the game.

Game Controls:

• N or F2 — Start a new game
• A — Restart the current game

In-Game Actions:

• 1 - 8 — Select a card from columns 1-8
• 9 — Move a selected card to a HomeCell
• 0 — Move a selected card to a FreeCell
• U or F10 — Undo the last move

Game Outcomes

The outcome of a game depends on whether you are the first person to solve it.

For Unsolved Games

When playing a game that has not yet been solved by anyone:

• Success: You win by successfully moving all cards to the HomeCells.
• Failure: The game ends because you have no more legal moves available.
• Give Up: You choose to end the game by clicking the 'Give Up' button.
• Runaway: You leave the game unfinished (e.g., by closing the browser).

For Previously Solved Games

When playing a game that someone else has already solved:

• Takeover: You successfully solve the game again, 'taking over' the win.
• Defeat: Your attempt to re-solve the game ends because you have no more legal moves.
• Withdraw: You choose to end your attempt by clicking the 'Give Up' button.
• Runaway: Same as above; you leave the game unfinished.

Other Tips

It can be difficult to distinguish the suit of the bottom card on a HomeCell pile (e.g., telling Hearts from Diamonds). To check the suit, simply right-click on the pile, and the bottom card will temporarily pop up for a clear view.
